Gen Mugisha, flanked by the heads of different Somali security agencies today appealed to the Mogadishu public to report any suspicious activities or behaviour following a spate of explosions in the capital blamed on the Al-Qaeda-linked group Al Shabaab, which has killed a number of civilians, including woman and children and members of the security forces. Al Shabaab withdrew from fixed positions in Mogadishu in August of this year after steadily losing ground to AMISOM and Transitional Federal Government (TFG) forces, professing to revert to guerilla-style tactics including roadside bombs, suicide bombings and the use of improvised explosive-devices.
